A mahogany travel trunk with a hinged lid, brass handles, nameplate and fittings. "CAPTN FRANS LIARDET / RN " is engraved on the nameplate on the top of the lid. The trunk has no interior divisions and is accompanied by a key.

Name/Title
A neoclassical-style cavalry helmet depicting a decorative stylized pattern along the midline crest which runs from the brow to the back of the helmet. There is a hole in the crest at the brow to insert horse hair and an attachment on the side to insert a plume. On the underside of the crest there is a relief that possibly depicts Medusa and a grenade. A metal chin strap is attached to the wearer's right side, a pointed peak at the front and narrow brim at the back.

A brass and copper military fireman's helmet. There is a midline crest depicting a relief pattern of a dragon, a short peak and longer back brim. The inside is lined with leather and there is a leather chin strap on the wearer's right side. The front is missing the fireman's badge.

A New Zealand Volunteers spiked army helmet. The helmet is covered in a dark blue-black wool and has a brass fittings and a New Zealand Volunteers plate on the centre front. The spike is missing. The brim curves downwards at the front and back. The inside is lined and has a leather sweatband.

A white canvas kit bag with brass eyelets around the top. The bag has a brass D ring looped through one of the eyelets. There is a padlock holding the D ring closed, but no key. The bag is stencilled as belonging to 73003 R. W. Syme who fought in the Pacific theatre during World War Two. Originally white, it is now heavily stained.

A cut down .63 calibre Sergeant's flintlock fusil with a banister rail stock and a swan neck cock. The lock is marked " Tower " with a crown and "G.R" under it. The ramrod is missing, it has British proofmarks stamped on it. " E. N. " is engraved on the butt plate. The ramrod is missing.

A Royal New Zealand Air Force Flight Lieutenant's World War II uniform. It has four brass RNZAF buttons down the front, four button down pockets with smaller brass buttons and a fob pocket. The trousers have a button up fly and plastic suspender buttons. The medal ribbons on the breast feature an Africa star, and a rosette badge sewn onto the North African medal ribbon. The jacket has a pilot badge on the breast and Flight Lieutenant stripes on the cuffs.

Name/Title
A New Zealand Cross complete with presentation case. The medal features a silver Maltese cross with a gold laurel wreath around a central circle. " NEW ZEALAND " is written on this circle. Each arm of the cross has a six pointed gold star on it and the top arm is surmounted by a crown. The cross is attached to a "V" link on a silver suspension bar with a gold laurel on it. The ribbon is crimson and has a pin at the top. " Captain Francis Joseph Mace / Taranaki / Militia " is engraved on the reverse of the cross.The presentation case for the cross has a red leather covering with gold details. The cross sits in an inset navy base in the case and the lid has a cream silk lining. " PHILLIPS / 23 COCKSPUR ST / LONDON" is printed on the lining beneath a crown. " PHILLIPS / COCKSPUR ST " is marked on the reverse of the bar.
