Name/Title
A fossilised piece of Dentalium Otamaringaense, collected from the mouth of the Urenui River in 1929. The fossil is a ridged white shell with a plug of darker material in its centre. The white shell is wrapped with a piece of grey material which looks a little like concrete.

A paramoudra trace fossil with a hole at the top and cylindrical cavity at centre. The cavity has a porous, bone coloured, fossilised surface. At the bottom of the cavity are several worm-like forms. The fossil is ovoid in shape when viewed from above and has distinctive nipped lower half when viewed from the side.

A Hochstetter's frog ( Leiopelma hochstetteri ) specimen preserved in formalin and contained in a glass specimen jar. The specimen has a dark brown back and its ventral side is dark brown and speckled. The outer layer appears to be flaking off. Toes partially webbed.

A yellow bellied sea snake (Pelamus platurus) specimen preserved in formalin and held in a tubular plastic container. The snake appears a mixture of light yellow and dark yellow. An accompanying handwritten note with the specimen reads " Pelamus platurus (Yellow bellied sea snake) /No data but probably one of 5 found on Taranaki coast during the summer of 1933 (Philips 1941). "
