Map of the Colony of New Zealand from Official Documents by John Arrowsmith 1850, belonging to Frederic Alonzo Carrington. It is thought that Carrington purchased the map in London before returning to New Zealand in 1857.
The map was published on 2 July 1850 by John Arrowsmith, 10 Soho Square, London. Showing the three islands 'New Ulster', 'New Munster' and 'New Leinster', including geographical features and locations of some towns. Small world map in bottom right corner. Inscribed 'Fred. A. Carrington' bottom right corner. Includes a case with inscriptions 'F.A. Carrington' and 'J.M. Deacon'.

In January 1841 Frederick Alonzo Carrington, Chief Surveyor for the Plymouth Company of New Zealand, selected the site for the settlement of New Plymouth. He subsequently made a topographical survey and planned a layout of the town.

Ink and wash relief map of the Te Henui River and some districts to the east as far as Mangorei Road. Devon Street in the north, south to about the edge of Awanui Cemetary. Includes a tributary of the Henui now about the line of railway at Strandon/Waiwaka Terrace. Handwritten in black ink lower left: "Enui River / New Plymouth / New Zealand / by F.A. Carrington 1843". Also handwritten in pencil top left corner "3" within a circle.
