The collection includes minutes, accounts and correspondence of the New Plymouth Caledonian Society. 1921 - 2011. The New Plymouth Caledonian Society was placed in recess in April 2011 due to waning membership numbers.

The first edition of Taranaki Punch was published by the editor of the Taranaki Herald on October 31st 1860. A controversial publication, Taranaki Punch sarcastically reported current events 1860-61. A total of sixteen issues were published.

Titled "Pioneer Tales from Taranaki's Rough North East Back Blocks" the reminiscences are a series of stories and verse depicting life in the Kohuratahi / Marco area in the early 1900s. It is illustrated with sketches (drawn in ball point pen) and photographs.
Bound into a volume, with the title in gold lettering on red buckram, the reminiscences are signed by M. Whitaker, 90 Lemon Street, New Plymouth, it includes a foreword by an granddaughter or grandson.
