A green felt Queen Alexandra's Mounted Rifles hat with a khaki and dark green-coloured puggaree. "Q.A.M.R." is on a badge on the front.The badge features the name of the regiment on a band that encircles a landscape scene with a ponga tree fern at centre and the regiment motto 'AKE AKE KIA KAHA' at the bottom. The hat has a wide brim, brown leather sweatband and chin strap attached to the inside. The brim is edged with a thin strip of light brown fabric and there are two open-holed rivets on either side of the hat. The manufacturing label reads: "The Hat Factory" on the underside of the brim. On the opposite side it reads the owners name and regimental number: "Bain T55930".

A pair of pink coloured wool knit long johns. They have a rib knit band at the ankles and a fly front with a three button fastening. There is a "V" shaped waistband panel at center back tightened by a pink criss-cross ribbon. A fabric label attached to the interior waistband reads " UNSHRINKABLE / ROSLYN / "DELTA" FINISH / No 85". A blue Roslyn monogram is stamped on the front. There are two " ROSLYN MILLS " labels attached on the left and right front exterior waistband and a diamond shaped paper label provides washing instructions.

Name/Title
A pair of yellow women's shoes. The shoes have a 6cm cork wedge heel, a heel strap, a side fastening buckle, and an open toe. Two wide straps run over the foot and two large plastic silver circle decorations are attached to the outside edge of each shoe. The sole of the shoe is plastic and cork. There is a wavy rectangular shape marked in orange on the upper sole of the right shoe. In the center of this is a partially visible marking that reads " BEACHCOMBERS ".
On the left (proper) shoe this " BEACHCOMBERS " mark is repeated and underneath are the words " by DEVON ". "6". is stamped on the sole of each shoe. On the inside arch of each shoe are comparative size markings. These are partially rubbed off. On the left shoe the markes " 6 " and " 7 " are visible. On the right (proper) shoe the marks " 6 ", " 7 ", and " 31 " are visible.

" KAIAPOI / SCHOOL CAP " can be read on the inside of the cap although the writing is very faded. Some other writing which has been stamped in black ink on the cap is illegible.

The interior of the helmet is lined with foam and cork and it also has a cross of webbing inside it. A tag sewn in the interior reads "MADE IN ENGLAND/ PROTECTIVE/ CROMWELL/ HEADWEAR/ 1869/ HELMETS LIMITED " "7 1/8" and "102/2" is stamped on the leather interior.

A cream-coloured satin brocade bodice that ends at the waist. The front and back match in design with a diagonal opening of snap fasteners at the front. Wide pleats start at the shoulders and run diagonally down to the waist. Between the pleats there is a triangular lace insertion at the yoke. The sleeves of the garment are elbow-length and end with a band of lace. The edges of the neckline and sleeves are also decorated with a row of grey glass beads. There is a hook and snap fasteners for attaching to the skirt around the waist.

The cap is has eight panels and a narrow visor in the front. The inside is lined. " Kaiapoi / SIZE 7 / MADE IN NEW ZEALAND " is written in red on a white label inside the cap. " BARRIE MALLON " is stamped twice in very faded ink on the label.

A cream-coloured waist-length bodice with two front pleats trimmed with appliquer floral lace. The bodice is shaped with darts and stiffened with thirteen bones on the inside. The sleeves are very lavish with rows of tucked silk chiffon on top of a net base from the shoulder to the elbow. Below that, there are long pieces of full and flowing chiffon. Where the two differently applied chiffons meet at the elbow there are overlapping layers of appliquer flowers. There is a low neckline on the garment, a waistband, two decorative buttons on the back of the bodice waistband and three beaded floral pieces attached at the back neckline. A row of hook and eye tape fastens the open back.

A waist-length jacket made of cream-coloured satin brocade with floral and ribbon motifs decorating it. The jacket is part of a matching bodice and skirt set. It has three bones along the back seams which have a green tack stitch at the top and bottom of each. Down the centre-front opening there are nineteen pearl buttons that are painted with a shimmer paint and handsewn buttonholes. One button is missing from the bottom of the jacket. The sleeves are constructed with two pieces of fabric and are fitted from the elbow to the wrist. There are curved darts at the centre front for shaping and pleats that are attached at the centre back of the waist. The collar is high and made of a floral embroidery on lace netting. A short lace ruffle edges the collar. Around the waist of the jacket there are four hooks for attaching to the skirt.

The skirt is long and has several pieces of fabric patched together. The construction of the garment includes panels and uses of gores for a slightly flared shape. Around the waist there are snap fastenings and eyes for attaching to the bodice and jacket. The skirt is backed.

It has pin marks around the underarm from where it was removed from a garment and it is lined with cotton. At the end of the satin there is a piece of attached sheer silk that has been shaped into a cuff and fastens with a hook and eye.
